Business planning is a well worn topic with the areas of Sales and Marketing, Inventory Management, Production and HR almost always included in most business plans.
However, IT is often overlooked in a business strategy. Too many IT decisions still remain reactionary and are decided in isolation of an overarching plan of the entire business.
Implementing specific solutions that are in line with a full business IT strategy ensures that there is coordination with the overall business strategy, and that any selection and evaluation process includes those offerings that will support that strategy.
Having this approach helps to determine the framework and criteria around which new solutions are assessed, and that the selection process aligns with the strategy, which in turn enables the business to move with IT in it’s intended direction.
